Design 04 originates from Otto Hutt's original design in the 1960s, combining the linear aesthetics of the Bauhaus style with the timeless elegance of a fountain pen. It embodies pure sophistication and showcases the spirit of innovation by harmoniously blending classic shapes with traditional craftsmanship.

Otto Hutt products possess individuality and uniqueness. Each product is one-of-a-kind and features a six-digit code engraved on the pen cap, exclusively belonging to its owner. This code remains accurate and lifelong, regardless of time or place.

The pen barrel is made of brass and coated with a layer of black or white lacquer. It undergoes manual Guilloche engraving, creating wave patterns of varying depths. The wave patterns are then plated with platinum and coated with multiple layers of clear lacquer. Between each layer, meticulous grinding and polishing are performed. The design features a Princess cut, resulting in 80 intersecting lines. The Guilloche engraving technique originated and developed in the 17th century in the classical jewelry industry. It was also applied to banknotes and confidential documents of that time to prevent counterfeiting.

Guiloche Technique

Otto Hutt is one of the few longstanding brands that continue to utilize the Guilloche engraving technique. They have successfully merged traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. Not only do they employ manual instruments operated by Otto Hutt artisans, but they have also embraced innovative CNC 3D control systems for further development and precision.

Details

A highly distinctive feature is the mechanically produced high-precision spring clip, meticulously carved from solid brass. It undergoes a meticulous process of high-polish platinum plating and is subjected to multiple manual tests to ensure smooth and reliable opening and closing.

The cap is engraved with the brand logo, and the overall design follows a minimalist approach consistent with the Bauhaus style.

By twisting the end of the pen, the refill is extended. It uses a 0.7mm tip size, which offers a moderate writing thickness and is less prone to breakage.

The components are made of brass and have a highly polished platinum surface. The combination of the polished platinum and white design enhances the sense of elegance and nobility.

After applying a black or white lacquer coating, the brass pen body is manually engraved using the Guilloche technique to create wave patterns of varying depths.
